There's always hope...
As I shared in a recent post, the power - the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit AND his ever-present work in this feeble heart of mine are slowly but surely becoming a reality in my day-to-day existence. Here’s an example…
A few days ago I was fighting what’s become an ongoing battle in my mind. And, quite frankly, I was losing the battle (insert “frown face” emoji here). Feeling defeated and helpless, I trudged through the day with a capital “L” (Loser) tattooed on my forehead believing there was no hope. That night, as I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling, a sermon note flashed through my mind: The same power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead is the same power that is alive and well and working in my life. Immediately, my hopelessness stalled and I thought something like, ‘Oh yeah, that's right...I'll lose this battle every time unless I learn to rely YOU! All the trying in the world will only get me so far...it's YOU I need! HELP!
And you know what...it worked! I acknowledged the power over sin that was mine via the Holy Spirit and, consequently, got out of bed and took a step of obedience against my battle.
And that’s only half of it! This reliance on the Holy Spirit is producing not just power over helplessness and sin but also a type of pure communion with God that's cultivating a deeper desire to RELY ON and TRUST IN the power of the Holy Spirit. It's a beautiful circle of faith, forgiveness, love and hope and it's all true friends...I'm experiencing it.
Don’t leave this power on the shelf. Pray, even beg God for it. And he'll respond...he LOVES to shower his children with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3).
Job 42:5 - Before, my ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
