A word about adoration
As you finish up Christmas details and head into the excitement of the next few days, I’m praying that you’ll all remember to do more that adorn your Christmas tree by making it beautiful with ornaments and gifts. I’m praying that you’ll remember to adorn the doctrine of God.
What does this mean practically? It means to make beautiful the gospel. And what is the Christmas gospel? That Jesus Christ was born for one reason…to die. He was born to die for sinners like you and me so that we might be reconciled with God. Someone sinless had to make things Okay between us and God in order for us to share his company. And that’s what Jesus did: Jesus Christ purchased our reconciliation (to bring to agreement; to make compatible; to win over to friendliness; to restore to communion).
So, look to Jesus over the next few days. Receive the reconciliation that he bought for you…bought with his life. Don’t forget it under the tree unopened. Adorn its meaning by opening and enjoying the gift he bought for you on the cross; the gift of love from an all-loving God.
Make him your pleasure and your Treasure this Christmas. He’s the only perfect gift at Christmastime.
