Are you applying what you've learned?

My Bible study teacher once said "if you don't apply what you've learned from the Bible, it's just a bunch of stuff you know."  SO TRUE!

  • If you merely think about learning to control your anger but never follow through, what good was your understanding of Proverbs 29:11 - "Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back?"
  • If you know in your heart that you should apologize to someone yet you don't act on it, how ineffective was your reading of Luke 17:4 - "Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive?"
  • If you realize your selfish behavior is effecting your family yet you refuse to adjust, what good is your knowledge of Bible verses such as Mark 8:34 - "[Jesus] said, 'If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me?'"

You can faithfully go to church, read your Bible daily and pray your socks off, but if you don't implement what the Bible says, all your efforts are pointless.

Where does your life need some Biblical application?  Why not take this reminder and apply Romans 2:13: "...merely listening to the law doesn't make us right with God.  It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight."
