beauty from dust

For nearly ten years I’ve been frustrated with the mud room in our home; the room that serves as the main entrance for our family as well as our friends.  Initially, I’d painted the walls and hung some prints to try to spruce up it up but, the reality is it’s pretty hard to take what needs to be a functional laundry room and turn it into an appealing gateway to our home. Fortunately with God, we don’t have to settle for “less than the best.”  With him, beautiful things can come from that which is imperfect. With Him, beautiful things come from the dust (Gungor).

And just like I watched the transformation of my mud room over the last few days, I can also watch rejuvenation occur in my own life as God turns my shame into peace and my failure into victory.  Isaiah 61:3 promises that God will “provide for those who grieve; [He’ll] bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

If your life needs to be remodeled like my mud room, take heart, God’s waiting in the wings; waiting for you to let Him take your dust and turn it into a beautiful masterpiece for His glory.
