Peace or Attack?

While speaking to the Israelites about biblical retaliation, Moses reminds them of this important fact: "As you approach a town to attack it, you must first offer it's people terms for peace" (Deuteronomy 20:10). In modern day terms, I think this passage reminds us that, although someone you know deserves an attack, you must first try the peaceful route.

Can you think of a recent encounter between you and a friend or loved one that could have been avoided had you led with "peace" instead of "attack?" It's hard isn't it? Especially when that person really deserves it. But, if handled God's way, your peaceful approach will not only soften the situation but will often avert the conflict all together.
