Spiritual Weapons

Recently, we talked about weapons and the fact that we believers fight differently than non-Christians.  We should, we have the Lord. But what about the battles we fight with ourselves; battles to overcome selfishness, hardheartedness, low self-esteem and impatience; battles over things that are entrenched in our character, separate us from God and destroy our testimony? Three key spiritual weapons are the key to our battlefront success:

  1. A yielded heart:  Job 11: 13-14 - Surrender your heart to God, turn to him in prayer, and give up your sins–even those you do in secret.
  2. A renewed mind:  Romans 12:2 - Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.
  3. A confessed spirit:  Psalm 32:3-5 - When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.  Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me.  My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.  Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt.  I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”  And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
