Who would do that?
When was the last time you took the blame for someone else's mistake? Most likely it was someone's genuine error that got accidentally attributed to you. Hopefully you had the courage to receive it gracefully (even though all the while you were probably dying inside knowing that others thought you were the one who made the error). Now, what if it wasn't an accident? What if, before the error actually occurred, you stepped in and said "I have a feeling you're about ready to make a mistake and, when you do, I'll take the blame." Who would do that?
Jesus.
Romans 5:7-8 explains: "Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."
Amazing, huh? While you and I were running around trying to save our precious reputations, Jesus stepped in and took the blame. While you and I endlessly defend ourselves, Jesus secures our acquittal. While you and I inwardly feel proud because we are willing to let a fault go unrecorded, Jesus willingly hangs on a cross to pay for our sinful pride.
What a amazing Savior we have. Why not stop for a moment right now and praise him for going to the cross for you?
