No matter where I am, God’s Word remains the same

As I sit here in the town of my birth, thousands of miles from my home in northern Virginia, I’m struck once again by the magnitude of 2 Corinthians 5:21: “God made HIM, who knew no sin, to BE sin on my behalf, so that I might become the righteousness of God” (emphasis mine).

Yes, no matter where I am sitting, this verse packs a punch: Jesus was made “…to be sin” for me! I am acceptable to God:

  • Not because I have obeyed

  • Not because I’ve promised to give things up

  • Not because I’m trying my hardest

  • Not because I didn’t fail yesterday

No. I am acceptable to God because of the death of Christ - no other reason. That’s why he came to earth…to die for me (and you).

Need I say more?
