Confession

Confession is telling God you did the thing he saw you do.  He doesn't need to hear it as much as you need to say it (Max Lucado).  Isn't that SO true? Why?  I think the answer lies in the nature of confession.

Confession is an act of humility; it's admitting we've done something wrong.  Our hearts, on the contrary, are full of pride and don't want to admit this.  Pride goes before a fall though, and we don't want to fall do we?  So, what do we do?  We confess.

1 John 1:9 says "...if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Forgiveness and cleansing are ours if we swallow our pride and confess to God what He already knows.  Remember, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6).  What a relief.
