Don't say 'I will get even for this wrong.'

It’s so tempting to quickly retaliate when someone has wronged us.  The problem with this is that the need for vindication is so strong that often we end up saying something we don’t mean or acting in a way that is unbecoming of a person who claims to call Christ Lord. So what do we do when we’re stinging from a hurtful comment or action and we feel the need to “right the wrong?”  We remember Solomon’s words in Proverbs 20:22: “Don’t say ‘I will get even for this wrong.’  [Instead, I will] wait and let the Lord handle it.”

Many, many times, when I’m dying to step in and assume God’s role as my Defender, my Vindicator and my Protector, I must remember that God can and will deal with the person who's hurt me far better than I ever could myself.  His justice is swift, His ways are perfect and He is never, ever fooled or caught off guard.

Trust me; if someone has hurt you, God is not blind to what has happened.  He already has a plan in motion to deal with that person in a way that corrects the wrong committed as well as restores the offender to a right attitude and relationship with Himself…and with you.

Just remember, when the tables are turned, and you’ve been the offending party, God will correct and restore you in the very same way.
