Fall on Your Knees

"Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices.  O night divine, O night when Christ was born!" Have you ever done that; simply dropped to your knees in worship? You have to be pretty overwhelmed or pretty thankful to actually get down on your knees.  If you need a jump start, the words of the season's carols contain phrase after phrase of worship and adoration that you can recite straight from the hymn book or tweak and make your own.

For example:  "Joy to the world, the Lord has come! Let earth receive her King.  Please Lord, let every heart, including mine, prepare Him room and let heaven and nature sing joyfully to him."

Or, "Yes, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning, Jesus, to Thee be all glory given!"

Or, "Come, Thou long-expected Jesus, born to set me free; from my fears and sins release me; let me find my rest in Thee."

Or, "Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay close by me forever, and love me, I pray; bless all the dear children in Thy tender care and fit us for heaven, to live with Thee there."

You should try it.  Grab your bible (Isaiah 61 or Luke 2), a hymnal or any booklet with the words to the Christmas carols.  Then, find a quiet place and begin to read.  Allow yourself to be drawn into the true meaning of the words and, before long, you'll find yourself gripped with the awesomeness of Christ, His birth and the reality of why He came to earth.  In the end, there'll be no place else to go but to your knees.
