God avenges the offender.
Injustice is all around us. We see it in the political climate, we cringe over its effect on children, and we bear it as our personal lives are broken in two. 'Why' you may ask 'is this type of wrong-doing allowed from a loving, caring God?'
The answer? It's not! Consider the following verses:
- 2 Thessalonians 1:6 - God will do what is right. He will give trouble to those who trouble you.
- Matthew 16:27 - For the Son of Man...will reward each according to what he has done.
- Psalm 37:13 - But the Lord laughs at the wicked, because he sees that their day is coming.
- Proverbs 5:22; 26:27 - An evil man will be caught in his wicked ways; the ropes of his sins will tie him up. Whoever digs a pit for others will fall into it. Whoever tries to roll a boulder down on others will be crushed by it.
- Numbers 32:23 - ...know for sure that you will be punished for your sin.
- Galatians 6:7 - Don't be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap.
Yes, it's true. While it may seem that oppression, shame, abuse and unfairness often have the upper hand, God promises that justice will prevail. We may not always get to see how God avenges the wrong-doer, but, the Bible tells us very clearly that He does. The real question is do we trust Him to do it?
- Do we believe what King David said in Psalm 11?- "The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord sits on His throne in heaven. He sees what people do; He keeps his eye on them. The Lord tests those who do right, but He hates the wicked and those who love to hurt others. The Lord does what is right, and he loves justice, so honest people will see his face."
- Do we believe what God said to the prophet Jeremiah? - "Hear this, I am going to bring disaster to the people of Judah because of the evil they plan. They have not listened to my messages and have rejected my teachings. They should be ashamed of the terrible way they act, but they are not ashamed at all. They don’t even know how to blush about their sins. So this is what the Lord says: “I will put problems in front of Judah. Fathers and sons will stumble over them together." (Jeremiah 6:19,15,21)
If we believe, then that belief must bring about personal change. Practice saying daily "Lord, I give myself to you; my God, I trust you....those who sin without excuse will be disgraced" (Psalm 25:1,3). And as this verse bolsters your confidence in an Almighty God, the trust you say you have in Him will become a reality.
