obedience is the key
In Jeremiah 11, God gives the prophet Jeremiah the terms of His covenant. God says, is essence, 'the terms are clear; obey them and I can hardly wait to bless you.' You see, in covenant terms, obedience is the key. Verse 5 says "your obedience will provide the conditions in which I can do what I promised: to bring you into a lush and fertile land." When my husband and I found ourselves far, far away from our "lush and fertile land", we decided to take this biblical truth for a test drive. We began to practice obedience in areas of our marriage where carelessness and a lack of respect had become the norm. The result? Well, the scripture was right: Our obedience provided the conditions in which God could step in and fulfill what He'd promised - a marriage marked by love, respect and forgiveness when done His way.
Isaiah 64:4-5 inspires me to pray proactively: My heavenly Father, please empower me to live obediently through Your Holy Spirit so that You are fully released to act in my behalf.
And with God on my side, nothing can stop me from living the obedient life He desires.
