Slavery

In Mel Gibson's movie "Passion of the Christ," Mary Magdalene, whose shame and forgiveness story is legendary; who was nearly stoned to death for her unfitting life-style, says, on the eve of Good Friday "...I was once a slave...but [because of Jesus] now I'm free..." You and I are just like Mary Magdalene: We were once slaves to sin and shame but now, if we ask, we can be forgiven and free.

But, once we've asked, we have to claim our freedom and live it each day. So often, we slip back into the chains of our slavery and forget to remember we're free!

What do you need to stay free from? Irritability, selfishness, from complacency? How 'bout shame, sorrow or self-doubt?

Let Jesus free you from your slavery and then, like Mary, walk away from the chains that earlier bound you. Just ask him. It's why he died...to set you free!
