Take first place in 2011
This morning, December 27th, I wrote this prayer in my journal: Take first place Lord; have Your way in my life. As I wander through this coming week - a week full of relaxing, fellowshipping, cleaning, playing, anticipating - set my thoughts toward the New Year. Place in my heart and mind YOUR agenda for 2011. Please give me answers to the following questions:
- How would You like me to spend my discretionary time?
- Does one of my children need my special attention?
- What would You like me to be reading?
- How can I love my husband better?
- Is there anything You'd like me to 'let go of?'
- Who would You like me to love-on?
- What book would You like me to study?
Open my eyes to the answers You give me. And, in the areas where I'm unwilling to budge, gently push me to surrender so that my entire life is integrated - in tune and in line with Your principles. Take it all Lord; take first place.
Philippians 3:10 (Amplified Version)
[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]
