Try some obedience...

Recently, I watched a friend solve a problem.  She knew that God revealed His will for her problem through His Word.  And the way to find the solution to the problem was through obedience to that Word. Do you have a problem that needs a solution?  Why not try some obedience to biblical principles.  For example:

  • Why does my marriage have to be this way?  Try some obedience - "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.  Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." (1 Corinthians 13ff)
  • Why is my child acting this way?  Try some obedience -  "Discipline your children while you still have the chance; indulging them destroys them.  Discipline your children; you'll be glad you did— they'll turn out delightful to live with." (Proverbs 19:18; 29:17)
  • Why can't I seem to get my eating under control?  Try some obedience - "A person without self control is like a city with broken down walls [so] I discipline my body like an athlete; training it to do what it should do."(Proverbs 25:28; 1 Corinthians 9:27)
  • Why does it seem my prayers never get answered?  Try some obedience - "Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure.  If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, my Lord would not have listened."  (Psalm 24:3; 66:16)

It's true:  the solution to your problem is ALWAYS found in obedience to the biblical principles outlined in the Bible.  Now it's your turn.  Can you think of other problems in your life that could be solved by a little obedience?  Why not search the scriptures and come up with a verse of your own; a verse that will define your solution?

Let me know what you came up with...I'd love to hear from you.  And remember, the Holy Spirit that lives inside you is always available to help...just ask.
