Part B – Wholeheartedly follow the Lord
Joshua 14:8 records the warrior Caleb saying “For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the Lord my God.” Caleb followed the Lord. But notice, Caleb didn’t just follow, he wholeheartedly followed. We do many things in a wholehearted fashion don’t we? We eat wholeheartedly; we seek financial gain wholeheartedly; we look out for our own best interests wholeheartedly. Yep, we cover our tracks and hold a grudge with a vengeance and we criticize and belly-ache with a passion.
But what about what God wants? Psalm 84:11 says “The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” So, do we forgive wholeheartedly? Do we “practice what we preach” wholeheartedly? Do we make an effort to be patient in the grocery store line and do we passionately promote peace in our homes and our workplaces?
What area in your life needs a wholehearted perspective? What attitude in your heart needs to transform from “whatever” to “yes sir!?”
Half-hearted Christianity will get you no where. Instead, be like Caleb; strive for wholehearted commitment in everything you do.
