Stay in the Light

Jesus, while instructing the surrounding crowd about light, lamps, and sunshine, encourages the listeners by saying "if you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight is shining on you" (Luke 11:36). Where are the dark corners in your life?  They must be exposed to the light...to the light of God's goodness and forgiveness.  If left untended, these dark corners will turn into dark alleys; then dark streets.  And before you know it, darkness in the form of shame and bitterness and a whole host of other maladies will dominate the avenues of your life.

Shine the light of God's love into the dark corners of your life.  Then, once the floodlight is directed into the center of your soul, ask God for the help and the courage to "stay in the light" lest you be tempted to turn and run back to the dark corner.

It seems safer there...in the dark.  But it's not.  You're safest in the bright, shining light of God's marvelous love.
