"Weights"
Hebrews 12:1-2 says “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus…and afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living...”
I can’t help writing out this verse with my own emphasis: “So, because people are watching me...watching how I live my christian life, I need to strip off every weight that slows me down in my progress toward becoming a godly woman, especially those things, those sins, that easily trip me up! This is a marathon, not a sprint, and I need to run it with endurance and stamina remembering that if I keep my eyes on Jesus (and not myself), the peaceful life I’ll gain will be evidenced in the way I live.”
I can think of a few “weights” I need to drop that I KNOW are slowing me down. How ‘bout you?
