What are you willing to give?

Your life cost God something.  The fact that you're forgiven and clean was not an arbitrary after-thought.  No, 1 Peter 1:18-20 explains that it was so much more.  It says "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited...and the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver.  It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.  God chose him as your ransom long before the world began..." Can you believe it; the incredible price God paid for your measly little life?  I think it proves that, in God's eyes, your little life is not measly but rather it is important enough - and you are loved enough - that he adopted you out of your sin and shame and placed a priestly robe on your shoulders and called you his own child.

Doesn't this make you want to live in a different way?  Consider right now what the Lord would want you to do differently on his behalf.  Maybe he wants you to love your spouse in a more intentional way...because he loves you unconditionally.  Maybe he wants you to become less critical of your friends and family...because he is not critical of you when you mess up.  Maybe he wants you to give in a sacrificial way to those around you...just like he gave the most precious thing he had; his son.

Think about it:  If you, in God's eyes, were worth the precious blood of Christ, what is he worth to you?
