What's God's opinion of you?
As you begin another week, do you have a firm understanding of God's opinion of you? Is He a warm and fuzzy grandfather-type Who loves to pass out favors to whoever He chooses or is He perched high in the heavens, watching your every move, waiting to catch you in a mistake so He can pass judgment and provide punishment? Why not consider the following Bible verses and then pray the accompanying prayer? This exercise should recalibrate your heart and instill in your mind a solid understanding of how God sees you.
- You are precious to God- Psalm 116:15 "The LORD's loved ones are precious to Him." Lord, some days I just feel like a piece of junk. But am I actually precious in your sight? Is it true that, like a shepherd searches for one lost sheep, I am precious enough to you that you'd send your Son to die for me? Thank you!
- You are fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalm 139:13-14 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am made in an amazing and wonderful way; what you have done is wonderful; I know this very well." Lord, each day I'm tempted slip into condemnation of my body; the body you skillfully created. Help me to thank You daily for the amazing thing You've done AND for the mother whose womb I was knit together in.
- You are a masterpiece - Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for you to do." Lord, it's so good for me to be reminded that, long before I ever was born, You had a plan for my life; a good plan created for me because of Christ Jesus.
- You bear the Name of the Lord - Revelation 22:4 "...And they will see His face, and His name will be written on their foreheads." Really Lord? Wow. Help me to understand that the moment I was born again, I was given Your family name, Your family likeness, intimate access to You and all the privileges of being a part of Your family...the family of God.
- You are loved with an everlasting love - Jeremiah 31:3 "I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself." Lord, I know that the facts of John 3:16 explain how much You love me - that You loved me so much that You gave Your one and only Son to die in my place. But, on a day-to-day basis, Your love gets crowded out of my mind and I feel empty and on my own. Help me to recognize the depth of Your love and the riches of Your grace so that I begin each day feeling loved, accepted, precious and secure.
If you make a decision to let the above verses resonate in your heart and mind, you'll be changed from the inside out...just wait and see.
