What's on your agenda?

While asking the Lord to "set my agenda" for the New Year, He gave me a phrase from Revelation 19:11:  "He...wages a righteous war."  This powerful statement stopped me in my tracks knowing I need a righteous war to be waged against the impurities in my heart and mind.  Although my soul is saved - bought with a price and secured for all eternity -  my heart and mind are a very different story.  As I'm sure is true with you, I have to work constantly to focus my thoughts on things that are lovely, pure and excellent (Philippians 4:8) and I have to be vigilant at keeping my heart open to God's leading and cleansed by His precious blood. So, in the New year, I'm going to TRY to allow God to wage a righteous war on the areas that need to be defeated in my life.  I'm going to claim verses like:

  • Psalm 119:32 - "If you help me and will run to obey your commands."
  • Galatians 5:1 - "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
  • 2 Timothy 2:21 - "If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work."
  • Psalm 119:4-8 - "You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully.  Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your principles!  Then I would not be disgraced when I compare my life with your commands.  When I learn your righteous laws, I will thank you by living as I should!  I will obey your principles.  Please don't give up on me!"

What's on your agenda for the New Year?  Let me know...
